Ed Dobson, pastor, went home the day after Christmas. Ed had battled ALS the past several years and from that fog he mined some diamonds that he shared with us: "It ain't over till it's over", "Show up & shut up", "I'll never leave you or forsake you..." among many others. I was given one of Ed's books by a friend who thought it might be helpful to me facing Parkinson's - and she was right. I was struck immediately by his honesty and profound simplicity - a man living a wise faith born of following Jesus around - literally - for a year. He was humble in initiating reconcilliations and kneeling to ask for a person's forgiveness. He was a good man and a good pastor - his final sermon was about ten years long - a struggling life lived before us. It's been said he went home healed - all I know is he's buttoning his own buttons these days.
